STAYING CONNECTED AND COMMUNIATING AS A TEAM

In this video, helps to one build trust, establish reliable communication, and stay connected. The success of any team is dependent on effective communication. Effective communication is essential for remote teams, where virtual team members may be in different locations and time zones, with different working styles and cultures.

METHODS FOR VIRTUALLY FACILITATING EFFECTIVE TEAM COMMUNICATION -

CREATING A SOCIAL MEETING POINTThis means providing a forum for team members to talk, share information, ask questions, and get to know one another. This could be a chat-based application like Slack or another type of team communication tool. The goal is to find a platform that allows team members to bond, share relevant information, and communicate informally.

Create channels for discussions based on topics, projects, or departments. Clear categorization aids team members in quickly finding relevant information. Encourage team members to use specific channels for topic-related discussions.
Organize regular video meetings to allow for face-to-face interactions. For team check-ins, brainstorming sessions, or project updates, use video calls. Regular visual contact helps team members form stronger bonds.

THREE LEVELS OF COMMUNICATION

Impersonal communication -It occurs when the team needs to disseminate general information, such as announcements, updates, or policy changes. This communication can take place via emails, memos, or messages posted in a shared digital space .Impersonal communication is also used when assigning routine tasks or sharing general instructions

Personal communication - It occurs when team members have one-on-one discussions. This can include providing updates on individual tasks, receiving feedback, or addressing specific concerns. Personal communication aids in the development of rapport and the comprehension of individual strengths and challenges.

Group communication - It takes place during team meetings, when all members gather to discuss project updates, brainstorm ideas, and make group decisions. It promotes the exchange of different points of view and collaborative problem-solving. When there are conflicts within the team, group communication is used to resolve them.

RELATES TO ME

-n my previous job, we used a project management tool to keep track of tasks, updates, and deadlines. I received an impersonal message from the tool one day about a change in the project deadline. The message was brief and to the point, stating that our project's deadline had been pushed up by a week due to client demands. This is the experience of impersonal communication.
